Andreas Burkhalter receives the oikos St.Gallen Sustainability Thesis Award 2008 for his project on product design in a free electricity market.

On 27 February 2008, oikos Johannesburg organizes the African Develoment Partnership "Creating an Environment for Sustainable Development", which will guide young leaders in sustainability-orientated action.

To individually coach oikos students acting as 'change agents' during the realisation of their sustainability projects, oikos introduces the Project Leadership Programme (PLP) . The selected students will meet for three intensive coaching weekends between March and October 2008. After successful a year at Brac University in Dhaka, Bangladesh, oikos Dhaka includes North South University (NSU), the first and the largest private university of Bangladesh.
