My name is Florian Lüdeke, I am a 28 year old research assistant and PhD student at the Centre for Sustainability Management (CSM), Leuphana University of Lüneburg, Germany. The CSM is an internationally active competence centre for corporate sustainability management. For an advanced understanding of sustainability / business links and the possibilities they offer, our institute is focussing research and offering courses on theoretical and practical topics related to environmental and social issues in corporate contexts.

Currently, as research assistant I coordinate a project concerned with the development of a more (eco-) efficient energy recovery of agricultural biomass. The interdisciplinary approach includes engineering, farming, environmental and economic perspectives. The courses I organise for students mainly circle implications of climate change. During the past semesters we worked on our university’s strategy for a more climate friendly campus.

In my dissertation I focus on the emerging field of business model concepts and their relation to questions of corporate sustainability. For my research these general topics are narrowed down to a specific approach: “Business Models for Corporate Sustainability. Innovative Regional Business Models as Subject and Trigger of a Sustainable Change in the Energy Industry.” As this title implies, the fields of entrepreneurial strategy, sustainable regional development and the sustainability core topic of energy are affected.

Before working at the CSM I studied Economic and Social Sciences with an emphasis on Environmental Economics. My final thesis dealt with energy companies’ investment strategies under the kyoto regime.

In my spare time I am involved in a music development association, as founder and financial director. And to compensate for sitting most of my working time I prefer to go jogging. Anyone out there who would like to discover nice trails around St. Gallen – with sports shoes?
