After decades of communist dictatorship Albania has achieved substantial progress towards democratization and market economy. However, Albania is still amongst the poorest countries in Europe despite rapid growth in recent years. There are many weaknesses and constraints that affect current and future development prospects. In this workshop, we will focus on two main questions: 1) How can Albania stabilize its transition and grow in a sustainable way? 2) Is ONE-UN, a program within the ongoing UN-Reform, which the UN-System recently initiated, able to meet the challenges of countries like Albania and a more efficient way of assisting countries affected by poverty and instability?
