The second oikos Young Scholars Organizations Academy provides PhD students in the field of Organizational Behaviour and Theory, Strategy, Management and Sustainability an outstanding platform to present and discuss their ongoing research projects with fellow students and senior faculty.
Innovative organizational research can add tremendous value to overcome pressing global environmental and social challenges. The second oikos Young Scholars Organizations Academy 2012 will focus on the topic of Social Innovation and Organizational Impact. It addresses emerging paradigms on how individuals, organizations, alliances and networks deal with increasing global challenges. There is an urgent need to better understand the models, underlying assumptions, practices and impacts of social and environmental protection innovation. How is this reflected in organizational theory and behaviour? In what way do models such as shared value, inclusive markets, base of the pyramid, co-creation, collaborative entrepreneurship and social entre-preneurship lead to significant shifts in the way organizations understand and deal with societal and environmental protection challenges? How do small and large organizations change their practices to incorporate these approaches? The Academy 2012 aims to attract emerging scholars theorizing on these questions and to promote a better understanding of social innovation and its impact.
We aim at attracting papers fostering new developments in organizational theory and practices with regard to how organizations can leverage existing and new solutions overcoming key sustainability challenges. Feedback will be given by fellow students and three internationally recognized researchers:
The Academy aims to advance academic research, build networks across disciplinary boundaries and to prepare the ground for research that is highly relevant for scaling up the pace of societal and environmental protection innovation. To stimulate impact oriented mutual learning we aim to attract both advanced researchers and promising young PhD students presenting conceptual works in progress. The Academy includes professional development roundtables, guest speeches and outdoor activities in the picturesque Swiss Alps.
A book publication with Edward Elgar Publishing will be associated with the oikos Academy 2012. Scholars that present their work at the Academy will benefit from the opportunity to exchange with the editors. Selected contributions will be considered for publishing in this volume.
