Case Writing Lab in Chicago 2009

Learn how to write and publish excellent cases on corporate sustainability and social entrepreneurship from leading case writers and judges at the Academy of Management meeting.

Kai Hockerts (Copenhagen Business School) and Michael Pirson (Fordham / Harvard) will host the first Corporate Sustainability and Social Entrepreneurship Case Writing Laboratory at the 2009 Academy of Management Confererence in Chicago, Saturday, August 8.

This Professional Development Workshop is designed for academics who are about to publish a teaching case or intend to submit a case at major international case competitions. Participants will learn to reflect about framing a case dilemma around a relevant question which provides multiple learning opportunities for the case audience. oikos Global Case Writing Competition Judging Committee Members Gabriel Berger (Universidad de San Andrés, Argentina), Kate Kearins (Auckland University of Technology, New Zealand), Stefano Pogutz (Bocconi University, Italy), PD Jose (IIM Bangalore, India) and selected competition winning case writers will share their experience.

Excellent Cases in corporate Sustainability and Social Entrepreneurship are rare. There is an enormous need for developing expertise in this area to support the production of cases, which are suitable for use in mainstream disciplines such as Corporate Strategy, Marketing, Entrepreneurship and Finance. It is the intention of this workshop to help scholars to develop case study projects in the field of Social Entrepreneurship and Corporate Sustainability into mature teaching cases and to reflect about characteristics of excellent cases. We think that the intended discussion process will help scholars to develop new cases that will more likely meet the standards of excellent teaching cases.

Attendance is free of charge but limited to 30 scholars. Sign in at http://program.aomonline.org/2009/Session_Details.asp?print=true&SubmissionID=14365
