The international jury will pick the winner of the oikos Student Award 2008 - comprising passionate past oikos Award Winners, student leaders, thought leaders on sustainable business education and outstanding social entrepreneurs - take a look below!

Alice Miro has won the oikos Student Award 2007 for founding Canada's largest student-run organic grocery store at the University of British Columbia. She is currently working at 'Smart Growth BC', the leading local NGO for more livable communities.

Andrew J. Hoffman is the Holcim (US) Professor of Sustainable Enterprise at the University of Michigan, a position that holds joint appointments at the Stephen M. Ross School of Business and the School of Natural Resources & Environment.

Claude Siegenthaler is a researcher and lecturer on environmental management and sustainable business at Hosei University, Tokyo. He is an oikos alumni and a frequent speaker at events such as the oikos Winter School.

Ibrahim Abouleish founded the sustainable development Initiative "SEKEM" in Egypt, to strive for the creation of living conditions today which will still allow future generations to live with dignity. He won the Right Livelihood Award in 2003 and was selected as "Outstanding Social Entrepreneur" by the Schwab Foundation.

Jess Schulschenk is co-president of the World Student Community for Sustainable Development (WSC-SD). She is currently running a number of projects on urban food gardens and schools greening with local communities in South Africa.

Katharina is the President of oikos International in 2008. Her intense work experience with twenty Local Chapters and a series of access candidates around the world equips her with insights into the potential of student projects for sustainability.

Marcia Aurora Winslade won the oikos Student Award 2005 for the "Education for a Sustainable Living Programme" at the University of California (UC). She is now the Sustainability Coordinator at the UC Santa Cruz.

Matti has won the oikos Award 2006 together with his travel-mates for Expedition World, an eight-month trip to social entrepreneurs. With Stiftung Welt:Klasse, he allows German students to share this "innovative learning experience".

Moshahida Sultana is a lecuturer at the Department of Economics and Social Sciences at BRAC University. Before joining BRAC university, she studied in Istanbul and Cambridge (US). She is an faculty advisor to oikos Dhaka.

Nicola Acutt is a faculty member and director of curriculum and faculty coordination at Presidio School of Management in California (US), one of the first business schools to focus on sustainability.

Tony Long is the Director of the European Policy Office of the WWF located in Brussels, one of the leading organisations lobbying for sustainable policy development in the EU, and a member of various high-level policy advisory committees.
