The international oikos Advisory Council comprises representatives from academia, business, politics, NGOs and other interest groups.
The Advisors support the activities of the association primarily by
- supporting the planning process for the overall strategy and specific activities;
- helping to establish contacts to key-decision makers;
- and supporting funding efforts.
Currently, the international Advisory Council consists of four experienced sustainability leaders that all accompany oikos International for several years. Their expertise helps oikos develop strong project platforms.

Clemens Gerteiser is Commercial Director of Leipzig International School. He has previously spent five years at the Boston Consulting Group (BCG) as a strategy advisor and a year in Mozambique as Chief Operating Officer of SOCREMO, the country’s second largest Microfinance Bank. Clemens studied Geoecology and Economics and was President of the “Bayreuther Initiative für Wirtschaftsökologie” which later became oikos Bayreuth. He has been an oI advisor for seven years.

Michael Kelly is Head of KPMG UK’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) function, where he leads KPMG’s programmes managing the firm’s own CSR performance. These concentrate on improving people’s chances of finding employment – focusing on education and social inclusion and on environmental performance. Both environmental and social programmes are linked so that they have maximum impact on their operations and their local communities. Additionally Mike leads the UK’s contribution in developing a CSR programme for KPMG across Europe, Middle East and Africa – currently a collaboration of some 25 member practices.
