oikos Clausthal gets the 'go-ahead' from university administation for 250 m2 of solar panels on university roof. The revenues will go to innovative learning projects.

With its ambitious project “Solar Power for Education” oikos Clausthal will support sustainable development in the two fields of renewable energies and education. With the help of sponsors, oikos Clausthal is building a 30 kilowatt peak solar power station on the roof of the university’s cafeteria. The 250 m² of solar panels generate electricity that will be fed into the grid.

 

The income will flow towards the education of students in Clausthal. Thus the project “Solar Power for Education” connects two visions: education and sustainability. It also demonstrates solar power as an efficient part of future electrical power generation to the students and inhabitants of Clausthal.

 

Now that oikos Clausthal has signed the contract of permission to build the plant with the University’s Management they are looking for sponsors and media partnerships.
