"Losers and Winners": oikos Bayreuth launches China dialogue

With an award-winning documentary, oikos Bayreuth launches its German-Chinese sustainability dialogue that will peak in a Symposium co-organised with AIESEC.

"Losers and Winners", a highly acclaimed documentary by Ulrike Franke and Michael Loeken portrays 400 Chinese workers breaking down the Kaiserstuhl coke factory in the Ruhr Valley into manageable parts and shipping them back to their homeland: disassembly in the West – reassembly in the Far East. Dortmund’s last coke workers find themselves helping the Chinese to dismantle their own workplace.

With the movie screening on April 21, oikos Bayreuth officially launches its German-Chinese sustainability dialogue seeking a deeper understanding of China’s challenges, trying to balance the views of the dragon.

Innovative and constructive solutions for a sustainable economic development in China are the core topic of the China Symposium at Bayreuth University at the end of May, jointly organised by oikos Bayreuth and AIESEC.
