Case writer with a better sight at the Base of the Pyramid

Case on 'Scojo Foundation' by Ted London and Mary Christiansen, University of Michigan, wins oikos Case Writing Competition.

 

Professor Ted London and Mary Christiansen have won the international 2008 oikos Sustainability Case Writing Competition sponsored by the oikos Foundation at the University of St. Gallen, Switzerland. Their entry "Scojo Foundation: A vision for Growth at the Base of the Pyramid" beat out 26 other case studies submitted from business schools on four continents. Scojo Foundation, which recently renamed in Vision Spring, sells affordable reading glasses to people with presbyopia living at the base of the pyramid (BoP).

 

Lisa Jones Christensen and Jessica Thomas from the University of North Carolina's Kenan Flagler Business School won second Prize with their case study "Procter and Gamble´s PuR Water Purifier – The hunt for a Sustainable Business Model". And Rebecca Henn and Andrew J. Hoffman from the University of Michigan came in third with the "Living Homes" case, illustrating the challenges of a new venture in the emerging Sustainable Construction sector.
