Case Writing Lab in San Antonio 2011

Learn how to write and publish excellent cases on corporate sustainability and social entrepreneurship from leading case writers at the AoM Conference.

Michael Pirson (Fordham University) will host the third Corporate Sustainability and Social Entrepreneurship Case Lab at the 2011 Academy of Management Conference in San Antonio, Saturday, August 13.

This Professional Development Workshop (PDW) is designed for academics who are about to publish a teaching case or intend to submit a case to major international case competitions. Participants will learn to reflect about framing a case dilemma around a relevant question which provides multiple learning opportunities for the case audience. The members of the Judging Committee of the oikos Global Case Writing Competition and competition winners, such as Ezequiel Reficco (Universidad de los Andes, Columbia), Kevin McKague (York University, Canada) and Andrew Hoffman (University of Michigan, USA), will share their experience.

Excellent cases in Corporate Sustainability and Social Entrepreneurship are rare. There is an enormous need for developing expertise in this area to support the production of cases which are suitable for use in mainstream disciplines such as Corporate Strategy, Marketing, Entrepreneurship and Finance. It is the intention of this workshop to help scholars to develop case study projects in the field of Social Entrepreneurship and Corporate Sustainability into mature teaching cases and to reflect about characteristics of excellent cases. We think that the intended discussion process will help scholars to develop new cases that will more likely meet the standards of excellent teaching cases.

Attendance is free of charge but limited to 30 scholars. Please find additional details at: http://program.aomonline.org/2011/Session_Details.asp?print=true&SubmissionID=15052 and register for the workshop at https://secure.aomonline.org/PDWReg.

This PDW is part of the oikos Faculty Development Programme and was initiated with generous support of Mercator Foundation Switzerland.
