Currently oikos International is seeking to fill the position of its President (Start: December 2008) for the year 2009.

What we expect

20 years after its launch, oikos stands on the verge of moving its activities onto a next level. In order to advance oikos as the leading student organisation for sustainable economics and management, the oikos President commits himself/herself to working towards the following goals:

• You support the existing Local Chapters in conducting their operations sustainably
• You additionally support the foundation of new oikos chapters. 
• You continue the current efforts to build up a professional network of members, alumni and partners.
• You link regional key decision makers to the respective Local Chapters and facilitate networking opportunities between local chapters by organising the semi-annual oikos International Meetings. 
• In your role as oikos President you coordinate international projects run by Local Chapters such as the oikos Winter School.
• You represent oikos at international conferences and vis-à-vis oikos sponsors and partners.
• You coordinate the work of the oikos International Executive Board.
• You help managing the oikos International website.

To achieve these goals you work in close relationship with the oikos International Executive Board, the oikos PhD Fellows and the oikos Foundation.

 

What the job requires

• You identify with the oikos Vision, Mission and Activity statement.
• You know the oikos organisational setup.
• You have experience in event organisation in Non Governmental Organizations (oikos background is an asset).
• You have knowledge of sustainability issues.
• You are intrinsically motivated and you are able to work self-responsible.
• Fluency in English, basic knowledge of German
• You are a team player with networking skills.
• You have a sense for strategic thinking.
• You are ready to familiarize yourself with TYPO3 (website content management system).
• You are an EU/EFTA citizen or have a working permission for this region.

The projects are conducted in a framework of profound sustainability knowledge and reflective processes. You work in an intercultural environment and contribute to promote sustainability change agents.  

Job condition

The position is based in St.Gallen/Switzerland. Your term in office: December 2008 - December 2009. Your salary covers living costs in St.Gallen.
