From August 5-7, alumni convenors gathered in Amsterdam to craft a strategy for 2012-2015. The weather was generous, the city looked green in many ways and we were delighted to hear the voices of oikos students embodied by the oikos International president Harriet Jackson and a representative from a Dutch oikos chapter. Key outcomes of the meeting were:

 

1. Strengthen relationships between alumni and students.
2. Strengthen exchange and support between alumni.

 

In the next couple of months, we will focus on realizing several local meetings (Berlin, Cologne, Vienna, Zürich), actively involving alumni in the oikos FutureLab and building a structure consisting of alumni that facilitates the goals for the next few years.

 

Aside from our strategy meeting, we met with representatives from the Dutch student network for sustainability that has 10 local chapters, to explore possibilities for collaboration. Alumnus Clemens Gerteiser invited us for a visit to his company Triple Jump to learn more about micro finance. Altogether, it was an inspiring weekend that opens new avenues for creating change for sustainability in a variety of ways.
