1st October 2010 – 31st October 2011. The first months will be a handover and training period, where you will be Assistant to the present oikos international President. The same will be the case with your successor.
Your salary covers living costs in St.Gallen.
I can only recommend all oikos members to apply for the position of the oikos International president 2010. It is incredible what I learned throughout this year. The great people I got to know. The skills I earned. The difference I was able to make. This year definitely opened my eyes for how the world works and what my role in it could be.
Katharina Beck, oikos International president 2008
The value you gain out of performing the job of the oI president totally depends on your own initiative. If you like your job you will earn an incredible high experience on many levels: administering an international organisation with around 1500 members, organising 3 international conferences, establishing contacts to a wide range of stakeholders and just seeing how you can really make a difference in a big international organisation. Your posterior employers will hardly be able to believe the high amount of tasks you managed to realise during this one year.
You work very self-organised and self-responsible. The freedom you have to realise your ideas is incredibly high. You will have difficulties to find a job where you can be as creative and free in your focus like as oI president. You really learn how to lead an “organisation of friends”, getting deep into decision making and organisational processes. You will need this knowledge throughout your whole life.
